Alan tells me that he’ll have “about 20” going to the sales as we look for a clear-out to make way for new faces through the summer, but, meanwhile, he still has a few to run in the closing days of the jumps season, with runners at Warwick, Exeter and Market Rasen tomorrow.

He said:”We run a couple in the two-mile handicap hurdle at Exeter. Wayne rides Elkstone, who is settling better since we put a hood on him and ran really well at Doncaster and Southwell, while our good young conditional Kevin Dowling partners Fred Le Macon. He has ridden the horse twice before and finished in the frame both times, and they seem to get on well.

Magic Music Man has been marking time on the all-weather while we wait for some good ground, but he had schooled well and I was really pleased how well he ran on his hurdling debut, being only beaten two lengths into fourth. He’ll come on for that and he runs in the maiden hurdle in which he should get his right conditions if the rain stays away.

“At Market Rasen we have Passmore going for the bumper, She has been placed in all her three races so far so is going the right way, while at Warwick we have Ted’s Lad going for the maiden hurdle and he, too, is shaping up nicely, while Give Him A Glance, who goes for the two miles and three handicap hurdle, is at the right end of the weights and will hopefully show a bit of improvement,
