Every owner dreams of winning the Grand National, and Alan, Tom Bellamy and the syndicate who are Axom, all agreed that they were “gutted” yesterday when Ziga Boy had to be ruled out of Saturday’s race at Aintree because of injury.

Dan Downie, racing manager for Axom, said:”Ziga Boy has suffered a tendon injury which is likely to keep him out the whole of next season as well.

“We were all looking forward so much to Aintree as he had been kept fresh since winning the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster in February, and the ground also came right for us, too.

“But it’s always very hard getting these horses to the big day, let alone winning, and sadly it was not to be. We hope that we’ll have him back for the autumn of 2018 and the fact that he is only eight years old gives us hope that the dream might not be over just yet.”
