Bourgullos can boast a win and two seconds since he was gelded, but he will need a career-best performance if he is to continue his climb in what looks another competitive handicap at Ascot on Saturday.
However, Bourguillos’s form looks rock solid, and Alan said:”He ran another super race at York last time, being checked in his run but still being beaten only a neck by the useful Big Country. He is up another 3lb, but he is in great form and we are hoping for another bold effort.
“We also have Beringer having his second run down at Salisbury. He needed that first experience, so, hopefully, will step up on that debut.”
Tonight we have Inn The Bull going to Newbury, where he looks to have a live each-way chance. He ran well in a first-time tongue-tie over the course last time, and the Barbury Beam remain in good form, with The Tourard Man giving Kevin Dowling his fourth success – all have come on this horse – at Market Rasen last Sunday.
That was The Tourard Man’s sixth win in the last 14 months – how many horses can boast that sort of record. He really is a superstar.
