Tuesday May 16

Midnight Cowboy gave us a few anxious moments before eventually becoming Barbury’s seventh winner of the month of May at Kempton yesterday, and with the rest of the week looking fairly busy under both codes, I took the opportunity to catch up with Alan between lots this morning.

Alan said:”I don’t think we’ve had a runner at Beverley before, but Amadeus Rox goes up there for today’s mile and a half handicap, which should be right up his street. I have been very pleased with his progress.

Royal Plaza makes his debut over fences this evening at Southwell. He took a heavy fall over hurdles at Ludlow in early March, and we have given him time to get over that. He is not the easiest horse as he can be very free, so we have just been trying to teach him to settle and race properly. He has the ability, but he has to do things right.”
