York’s three-day May fixture is one not to be missed, and Alan is looking forward to seeing how Cosmeapolitan shapes on the Knavesmire tomorrow, his target being the opening handicap over the extended mile and a quarter.
Alan said:”Cosmeapolitan ran well on his comeback at Newmarket’s Guineas meeting, his first race since he won on his hurdling debut at Newbury last December. He should be sharper for that run, but he drops back in trip so I hope they go a good gallop up front.
“We also have Grumeti going up there on Thursday for the two-mile handicap. Everyone in the yard got a big buzz out of watching him get up close home on the tapeta surface at Wolverhampton in March as he is such a popular horse.
“The handicapper has him 3lb higher for his return to turf, but we could do with him climbing up the ratings a bit more so as to get him in some of this decent Flat handicaps through the summer.”
We also have a couple going to Yarmouth tomorrow, and Alan added:”Magic Moments has been running well on the all-weather, and she pulled too hard when she made her turf debut at Brighton last time. That was over the mile, but they’ll hopefully go a bit faster back at seven (furlongs) which should help her settle better.
“We also have Silca Star up there. He had his first run for us in a maiden at Windsor three weeks ago, but he unshipped his jockey in the preliminaries and cantered off to the start riderless. Hopefully, things will go better here for what is his first handicap.”
