Thursday October 27

Alan is delighted with the way in which the horses are running, though he is desperate to crack on with the jumpers if only we could get some proper rain, and he will walk the track at Stratford today before giving Criq d’Or the green light to make his hurdling debut there.

As I write he is contemplating what jumpers to run tomorrow with no sign of rain on the horizon, but Grumeti heads back up to Newmarket and, assessing his chance, Alan said:”He ran as well as I hoped he would in the Cesarewitch, being only beaten 10 lengths, and, while this looks competitive it won’t take quite so much winning. Adam Kirby rides for the first time and he has enjoyed a fantastic summer, so let’s hope they click at the first time of asking.”
