Ollie joined us in February 2011 as pupil assistant at Sharpridge Farm. He was very involved with horses and ponies from a young age which lead to an inevitable interest in racing, first and foremost in jump racing. He started his first job in racing, riding out part-time for John O’Shea’s base which was ten minutes away from his family home in Westbury.
He spent two years part and full time for John before moving to Richard Barber’s in Dorset, gaining valuable experience with younger horses for point-to-pointing which were then moved on to Paul Nicholls. It was there that Ollie grew an interest in the training of horses and wanted to learn more about equine health and preparation for racing. Ollie is now based at the Barbury yard as assistant trainer.
