We had twenty one horses being put through their paces on the schooling ground this morning, and although the grass gallops are still out of use we were able to get plenty of the string jumping on the grass both over fences and hurdles. It was great to get some of the chasers out jumping the larger obstacles and some of whom were trying their hand at chasing for the first time, it proved to be a very successful schooling session.

It had already been a good start to the week, and yesterday was no exception with a double. Rainbow Dreamer kick started the day by winning his maiden on the second attempt at Nottingham. Running just over 1 mile he seemed to relish the heavy going, tracking the leaders and taking up the running approaching the final furlong, eventually pulling 4 lengths clear of the remaining field and easing down approaching the line. Although the ground may not have suited some of his rivals it was certainly an eye catching performance and he can hopefully progress into a very effective 3 year old.

Mystery Code made the long journey to Fakenham worth while for The Barbury Lions as she won over hurdles at the first time of asking, despite the track not playing into her strengths she handled the tight turns well travelling strongly and jumping well. She ran out a 4 length win, taking up the running  2 hurdles out to ensure the race didn’t turn into a sprint finish.

With a busy weekend looming we can hopefully get on the score sheet with a few of our charges and there will be plenty more to write about in the upcoming days.
