Two more Flat winners illustrate just how well the team are running, with Giveaway Glance showing the right sort of spirit to come from an uncompromising position to win the 10-furlong handicap at Leicester on Monday, and the celebrations were topped up when Coeur de Lion and Mccools Gold gave us a one-two in the two-miler at Nottingham yesterday.

Alan said:”Giveaway Glance kept on trying for Fergus (Sweeney) and wriggled through a small gap to get there. She relished that easier ground and is a filly with the right attitude.

“Coeur de Lion, who finished a highly respectable seventh in the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham, is a 144-rated horse over jumps. He can be a bit lazy, but he showed here that he is a decent dual-purpose prospect, though ideally he wants softer ground so he won’t be doing too much through the summer, while I was also chuffed with McCools Gold, who stays well and made it a real test of stamina.”

We have War Chief running at Goodwood tomorrow, so, hopefully, the good run might continue. Alan added:”He ran well at Chepstow last time, but he saw plenty of daylight on the outside and was a bit keen, so we are trying him in a hood to help him settle.”
