Both Oceane and Ardamir got stuck in the mud following Friday’s monsoons, but a relatively fine week is forecast so we will go to Goodwood on Wednesday optimistic of a good run from our two runners on the Sussex course.
Alan said:”Sir Nigel Gresley belied his odds first time out at Sandown in July, finishing a promising third to Best of Days, who was subsequently only beaten a head in the Acomb Stakes at York’s Ebor meeting.
“The Sandown race was over seven furlongs and Sir Nigel Gresley was doing all his best work at the finish so should be well suited by this extra quarter-mile in the opening maiden. He’ll also have derived a lot from the experience, and we are all looking forward to seeing him back out again.
“The Otmoor Poet runs down there in the 11-furlong handicap. He was second on the polytrack at Lingfield last time, but he had earlier run well on the turf at both Brighton and Windsor so he might appreciate being back on the grass.”
