NEWBURY is one of our local meetings and Alan has three runners on the Berkshire course on Friday, Tyrell, a Teofilo colt who makes his debut for the Apple Tree Stud in the first division of the two-year-old maiden, Precision Five in the staying handicap and Phantom River in the 10-furlong fillies maiden.

Alan said: “Precision Five is a really consistent mare who has done us proud. She has won three and finished second five times in her last eight races and was just caught on the line at Brighton last time.

“She began her winning spree this year off 64 at Lingfield in January, and she has risen to a mark of 87, so she will need a career-best performance in what looks a competitive handicap.

“Finally, Phantom River is a nice Observatory filly who made a pleasing first appearance when finishing third on the tapeta surface at Wolverhampton. I own her myself so, hopefully, she’ll run well, though it looks a pretty hot maiden.”
