So close but no cigar summed up Alan’s Cheltenham Festival, but we are back at Prestbury Park on Wednesday looking to hit the bullseye this time around with either of our two runners, Azzerti or River Frost.

Assessing his hopes, Alan said:”The opening novice hurdle has cut up to only five runners, so, hopefully, Azzerti will be a major player.

“He ran well when second at Newbury and seems to be maturing mentally, though we never saw the best of him subsequently at Sandown as he completely flipped when he heard the band playing during the preliminaries. He was awash with sweat but we got away with it and he still won, though I’m glad that there is no planned music beforehand this time!

“River Frost is our other runner in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle. He won quite cosily at Kempton last time and will have learned plenty. He then ran well in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham and this looks somewhat less competitive.”
