The Mumper showed the benefit of the step up to three miles when winning at Huntingdon yesterday, and now we look to top up those celebrations at Kempton, where we have Montbazon and Pantxoa running today.
Alan said:”Montbazon is stepping up in trip, but it cold help him, as might the blinkers. I was not that happy with his attitude at Newbury last time even though he finished a respectable third. He never travelled or jumped like we know he can, so, hopefully, the headgear might make a difference.
“The handicapper has also given Montbazon a chance – he is down to 135, whereas he was on 147 after running such a great race in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham four years ago, and he is 5lb lower than when finishing third in the County in 2014. The drying ground will definitely suit him, too.
“The ground will also benefit Pantxoa, who returns in the three-mile handicap chase. He has been off since pulling up at Market Rasen last July, so it will be good to get him rolling again.”
