Friday November 5

Alan really enjoys working with the Flat horses through the summer, and he has had his best-ever season on the level, with Primitivo‘s Royal Ascot triumph the highlight, but before he switches his attention totally to the jumpers he has one more bullet to fire at Doncaster on tomorrow’s final day, William Hunter in the November Handicap.

William Hunter might be one of the outsiders for the big race on Town Moor, but his form is solid and he deserves his place in the field. Alan said:”He has been a star this season, winning three and rising 17lb in the ratings, so it helps that Hollie Doyle, who did so well for us on First Mohican, can take 5lb off.

“William Hunter’s one disappointment came at Newmarket last time, though he did not appear that comfortable on the ridges there and this flat course should suit him better. He’s had a long year and January and March are the only months in 2016 during which he did not run, but he seems in good form at home so we are rolling the dice one last time.”
